Next week 24 – 27 March 2025 APEX union members at Awanui labs (previously Southern Community Labs) are striking, and most community laboratory services will be unavailable for the week. We will be unable to send lab specimens for testing.
We will be unable to provide cervical screening, sexual health checks, and biopsies – please defer these appointments until after the strike. This may also affect our ability to provide the best standard of care, when laboratory testing would usually have been recommended.
Urgent testing may still be available (on discussion with our GPs & nurses), and Canterbury Health Labs will still be open for blood testing for those who wish to attend Christchurch Hospital (in the outpatients building).
We expect normal lab services to resume the following week (31st March)
